In 1987 Steve Walker, an avid golfer, started ProGreen as a way to sell affordable, artificial, backyard putting greens to fellow golf aficionados. Today, ProGreen International, Inc. makes synthetic grass for dog runs, landscaping, athletic fields, movie sets, etc. ProGreen has gone from a local company to an international presence with synthetic grass dealers all over North America, Europe and Asia. Wherever there is a need or use for synthetic grass ProGreen has designed a new product. Soon after the synthetic putting greens gained popularity synthetic landscape grass was introduced. Within the last 5 years ProGreen's landscape grasses have evolved to be used in dog runs. "Locally, synthetic dog run turf accounts for more than half of our business," says Steve.

ProGreen's Synthetic Grass Dog Runs have many advantages over more the more traditional types of dog runs such as cement, dirt or pea gravel. First and most importantly, synthetic grass will not irritate, cut or get stuck in your dog's paws. Secondly, synthetic grass won't turn yellow or die due to urine. Additionally, your pet won't bring dust, dirt or mud into your home which will reduce the amount of time spent cleaning your home.
There are also numerous environmental advantages to synthetic grass. There is no need to mow or water which helps to conserve water and spares the atmosphere from lawnmower emissions. Also, synthetic grass needs no fertilizers or pesticides helping to keep our water supply clean and safe. Surprisingly, synthetic grass helps to reduce gasoline consumption through the elimination of mowers and the subsequent gasoline that is spilled when refueling mowers; again helping to keep the environment clean. Most importantly, ProGreen's bio-cel backing is 100% recyclable.
Synthetic grass is installed in a manner very similar to laying carpet, but the seaming process is more forgiving. Many of our customers simply buy the necessary materials from us and install it themselves. Synthetic Dog Run Grass from ProGreen ranges from $3.50 to $6.00 per square foot if you want to install it your self, you will also need to install a crushed rock sub-base and secure the perimeter of the area with border stakes. ProGreen can install a dog run for $7.50 to $8.50 per square foot with all labor and materials included.
